About us at The Saddle Shop

I started riding at the age of 4 and I have had the bug ever since. I helped at my local riding school, was a member of The Pony Club and had a loan pony before having my own horse Billy at the age of 17. Billy was a bay thoroughbred, sadly before I purchased Billy he had been left in a field for several years and neglected so it took some time and perseverance to build a relationship with him. He was a special horse as he was my first horse but also taught me so much. When i first had him he did not want to come in from the field. I would catch him, start my way up the track and he would take off back to the field and round and round we went! He wasnt keen on being handled to start with but after hours of patience and TLC he improved. We went on to enjoy lots of activities and he came to Hartpury with me.

I then had a dutch warmblood named Cassinova, he really did live up to his name and was known for jumping out of places he shouldn't. I also had an IDxTB Indie who was an excellent all rounder and we enjoyed riding club and BSJA before she retired to light hacking due to primary SI OA.

Jimmy Nigel's old horse was a Gelderlander , and in my opinion this breed is amazing and led me to buy the two we have now. Max & Monty. Monty is my horse and i hope to compete BD with him in time, he is a big boy and due to his size was broken last year a t 5 turning 6. Max is Nigels horse and he loves fun rides and hacking with him. i have also done some jumping and dressage with him too. We also have Benji our adopted horse who is now retired from showjumping and is enjoying his days getting pampered, eating grass and getting plenty of treats. We also have Cookie our ex race horse who has been on a journey and was operated on last year for kissing spine, he is now back in work and enjoys schooling, fun rides and hacking.

I also have a rescue cat named Oscar who is always hanging out with me when I am working in the office, he was at the stables for a while but we soon realised he preferred to be at home on the sofa.

I also work in the animal pharmaceutical industry which I thoroughly enjoy.

The Saddle Shop

We started the Saddle Shop because we noticed a lack of affordable saddles available with the opportunity to trial before committing to buy.

It can be a minefield finding a suitable saddle to fit you and your horse and with many eBay sellers not accepting returns this can make finding a suitable saddle at an affordable price a real challenge.

At the Saddle Shop we aim to help people looking for a new saddle and give our customers the option to return the saddle if it is not suitable.

A £10 admin/cleaning fee is charged and you are responsible for postage costs.

We strive to offer a wide range of saddles whereby you can come and view and choose your saddle at our base in Worcestershire.

We can also visit you and your horse if you are within our catchment area and attend your yard with a range of saddles, for details and charges please see our book a visit page.

All saddles on our website have been cleaned & treated with Balmoral Equestrian Products to ensure they are protected from the elements.
